PRESS RELEASE
Molly Vulpyne Band formed in 2024, when what was meant to be “just one gig” snowballed into recording an album and playing a rapid-fire run of festivals and gigs across the UK and Ireland. After releasing her solo EP Amortise in 2024, Dublin based songwriter Molly expanded her sound with a full band featuring Irish punk veterans Peter Jones (Paranoid Visions), Jay Bagnall (Paranoid Visions, Steve Ignorant Band), and Tony Carberry (The Lee Harveys).
The band’s live reputation grew rapidly, performing at the National Stadium with Alexisonfire and Coheed and Cambria, playing to a packed out Opera House at Rebellion Festival and supporting The Vaselines and CKY.
Their sound refuses to be boxed in, part punk, part alternative, part melodic, part chaos and raw emotion. It fits nowhere and everywhere, and that’s exactly the point. Drawing comparisons to PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, and Garbage, Molly Vulpyne channels fury and vulnerability while forging a sound that is unmistakably her own — poetic, political, and always authentic.
Their debut album Houndstooth and the Hum arrives February 27th, following the critical success of singles “Hook” and “My Expiry.” In 2025, they embark on a run of double-header shows with Interrobang across Ireland and the UK, solidifying their place as one of the most compelling new forces in alternative music.
Described by Carl Barat as being Ireland answer to Amy Winehouse mixed with PJ Harvey, here’s what some other people have said:
‘'Molly's seductive combo of neo Dolly parton melodic noise and stark punk and post punk soundscapes is a welcome addition to the ever-fervent Irish music scene' - Louder Than War
‘Going by this offering it’s one that’s kicking down walls at every turn. Is this the start of something wonderful? Yes. Do we hope that there will be more to come’ - The Punk Site
‘Riotous rock layered with anthemic bass hooks and unruly guitar chords, complete with a heated vocal performance from the absolute powerhouse that is Vulpyne. As riveting as it is emotional, Molly announces a new record that is sure to make waves in the Irish alternative scene’ - Hotpress
